Hello, my name is Finn! I’m a lucky nine month old black lab mix puppy. This great group called AC PAW rescued me and my siblings when we were babies. We were found hungry, cold, and had fleas. Most think that puppies are cute and they easily get adopted. But AC PAW wasn’t sure if I would ever find a furever home. Truth is . . . I’m BLIND. Mom’s owners talked about “putting me down” because my right eye was deformed and my left eye never developed.
One day a volunteer named Jane came and took me away. She got rid of the fleas, fed me, and kept me warm. She took me the vet where this other nice lady named Dr. Val checked my eyes, put drops in one eye and made me wear this plastic lampshade. The left eye, sadly, just wasn’t there . . . but maybe we could save the right one!
Despite having drops in my bad eye every 2 hours, it just wouldn’t heal. Surgery was the best chance I had to able to see, even if it was just a little bit. Jane, my foster mom, had lots of other puppies to take care of, so after my surgery I would recover at Dr. Val’s and go to work with her everyday. At Dr. Val’s I learned how to play with her dogs – THEY didn’t see anything different about me!
AC PAW and their volunteers never gave up – I had 3 different surgeries on my eyes and they talked to specialists to try to save my vision, but it wasn’t to be. They had to take out my right eye.
Even though I was completely blind now, Dr. Val knew it was time to find me a furever home. Not as easy as you would think. Who wants to deal with a blind puppy? It had to be the perfect home, safe for me, and with a family who would love me unconditionally.
At the same time I was going through all of my struggles, my “future mom” was struggling with a difficult decision. She’d been offered a job where she could work with dogs ALL DAY! She would make less money and wondered how it would affect her existing family, but she took a leap of faith and the job. One month later our paths crossed and it was instant LOVE. Mom says everything happens for a reason.
My new home is the most amazing place! I have a big backyard to play with my brother and sisters with special steps on the deck that I’ve mastered. Mommy said it is important that I be as independent as possible.
I go to work with mommy everyday at Doggy Daycare. I have lots of friends that I play with like a Rock Star! If it wasn’t for AC PAW, you wouldn’t be reading my success story.
Be sure to watch the video that goes with my story to see my AMAZING LIFE!

SERVICES OFFERED BY AC PAW
There’s usually no tomorrow for these critters without our intervention. If you see or hear of an animal that needs to be removed from their current situation, please contact us immediately!
Based on the simple premise that a special kind of animal lover opens their heart, and their home, to a rescued animal until a permanent home is found. Volunteers take the animals for their vet trips and socialize’s them. They mend broken bodies and broken hearts, sometimes breaking their own in the process. Along the wa they also prevent the need for euthanization, reduce animal cruelty and overpopulation. They explore the bounds on human/animal relations. It’s cost-effective, but not without cost. For more information on becoming a foster parent, visit our Foster Care page here or contact us for more information.
It’s all pointless unless they find a loving home for life. AC Paw works hard to find a “forever home” for each and every one of the animals we rescue. If you would like to become a “forever home” to one of the many loving animals we have available for adoption, please contact us today!
The effects of indifference, ignorance, and cruelty are at work each day. Our message of compassion, knowledge and advocacy must prevail. If you would like to become involved in helping educate the community, please contact us for more information on how you can help!
Community Spay / Neuter Operations
No other activity has a greater impact on population control than “Targeted Spay/Neuter”.
Dog Housing Project
We need to do everything possible to facilitate proper shelter against the elements. If you would like more information on how you can become involved in our Dog Housing Project, please contact us today!
Donations are a vital part of the AC PAW existence. Without your help, AC PAW’s success would not be possible. 94% of every dollar raised is used for direct care (food, kennels, veterinarian care, etc.) for the thousands of dogs and cats we save.
